Carissa Avalos has joined CADP as the Senior Population Health Policy Specialist. Carissa has over 7 years of experience in Managed Care Medicaid, specializing in innovative implementations like CalAIM and Quality Improvement initiatives. A graduate of Fordham University, she holds a Bachelor's degree in International Political Economy and Sociology, with a focus on health disparities. Her academic background laid the foundation for her deep commitment to addressing inequities in healthcare.

Carissa is driven by a passion for person-centered care and approaches her work through a trauma-informed lens. She is dedicated to improving overall community health by designing long-term, strategic solutions that aim to serve individuals from all segments of society. Her professional journey is marked by successful collaborations with managed care plans, state departments, county agencies, federally qualified health centers, and other key stakeholders in the healthcare delivery system.
